Certification of Judgment for Registration in Another District

28 U.S.C. § 1963

A party uses the Certification of Judgment for Registration in Another District (Director Form 2650) to register bankruptcy court judgments in other districts. The court recommends the party use the Director Form 2650, but the form is not required 28U.S.C. § 1963. The certification notifies the clerk of the registering court that a judgment is no longer subject to appeal in the original court. To register a judgment with a state or local authority see Exemplification Request. The Certification of Judgment is not used for an: Exemplification Certificate (see Exemplification Certificate); or Abstract of Judgment (see Abstract of Judgment)

Process

• Review docket:
• Verify judgment is not on appeal. If the judgement is on appeal bring the form to a supervisor for assistance.
• Verify certification fee is paid (receipt docketed)
• Certification:
  • Print judgment from the docket sheet.
  • Include the PDF header. Certified copies must include the EOD (entered on docket) date.
  • Always print the judgment from the docket. Do not certify copies provided by the requestor.
  • Certify the judgment

• Complete Local Form MSSB-2650 (located in CM Template Folder)

• Complete, print and sign the form

• Scan and save certification form and certified judgment as one PDF document

• Attach certified judgment to certification form and deliver to the requestor.

• Docket the certification form and judgment as a private entry. In the docket text include to whom document was provided and the method of delivery.
