Abstract of judgment is a written summary of a judgment ("Abstract"). Most state laws require a party to file or record an abstract in order to perfect a judgment lien. To request a summary of a judgment, the party must prepare and submit an abstract form to the clerk's office for review and certification. Abstract forms are typically available in most state legal form books. |

: There is no fee to issue an abstract. However, the clerk must collect a certification fee for the certified copy of the judgment attached to the abstract.
