Abstract of Judgment

Abstract of judgment is a written summary of a judgment ("Abstract"). Most state laws require that a party file or record an Abstract to perfect a judgment lien.

The party requesting a summary of a judgment must prepare and submit an Abstract form to the clerk's office for review and certification. Abstract forms may be available in most state legal form books.
