What is Debtor Email Notification?

A FREE service allowing debtors to receive court notices and orders (documents) from the bankruptcy court by email rather than U.S. mail.

Who Can Serve the Debtor via Email?

Only the court can serve documents to the debtor via email. All other parties, including creditors and trustees, must continue to serve documents upon the debtor according to court rules, i.e. by U.S. mail, overnight mail, or personal delivery.

How Does a Debtor Sign Up?

  1. Complete and sign Local Form MSSB-9036.
  2. File the completed form with the Clerk's Office  
    1. Over the counter (via mail or in person). The form must have the original signature of the debtor; or
    2. Electronically by the debtor's attorney using the docket event [Bankruptcy > Other > Debtor Request Re: Email Notification]

Note: In a joint case, each debtor must file a separate request, even when the debtors have the same email address.

The debtor must file Local Form MSSB-9036 if one of the following occurs:
 

Requirements for Email Notification for Debtors:

  1. Reliable Internet Access
  2. Email Account
    1. The court may deny a request when an email seems inappropriate or offensive.
    2. The BNC uses the below email addresses to send correspondence and court documents to the debtor:
      1. bndedi@noticingcenter.com
      2. startn@noticingcenter.com
      3. bncrtn@noticingcenter.com
    3. Do not reply to emails from the above addresses as the accounts are not monitored for responses. Responses to court documents must be filed as a proper pleading with the Court.
    4. Address all questions regarding email notification to the Clerk's Office. (Jackson 601-608-4600 Gulfport 228-563-1790)
    5. To ensure court notices are not reported as SPAM or Junk Mail the debtor should add the above email addresses to their contacts/safe-sender list.
  3. Adobe Reader - Latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
  4. Register - The debtor must complete and file a Request for Email Notification of Debtor (Local Form MSSB-9036) with the Clerk's Office.
